We help people understand and change painful patterns that keep repeating.
Understand where they come from.
Loosen their hold on you.
Move through life with more choice
Our Approach
Most of us are repeating something painful we once needed to get through.
It shows up in the same fight with your partner, over and over. The same dreadful feeling, again. In sex. In money. In parenting. In shame and self-criticism.
Instead of rushing to fix, we work to understand why a pattern exists; how it helped you adapt, what it once made possible, and why it may now be getting in the way.
The work begins with reducing surface symptoms. But it does not end there. We also work to understand and change what keeps bringing them back.
Over time, the aim is to become less driven by old patterns — and more able to live, love, and work by choice rather than default.
Our Services
Individual Psychodynamic Therapy
In psychodynamic therapy, you and your therapist build a relationship to explore your inner life and the patterns in your relationships with others.
Together, we pay attention to what is happening beneath anxiety, depression, shame, anger, numbness, self-criticism, and pain — to understand how your emotional life came to be organized this way.
The aim is not to become a better-managed version of yourself. It is to become more free: more able to feel, choose, relate, grieve, want, risk, and repair.
Children do not always speak first in words. They speak through play.
Through their play, children work through fear, conflict, grief, aggression, longing, confusion, and the emotional challenges of growing up.
We work alongside children to help them understand their inner world, not simply correct the behavior at the surface. When appropriate, we include caregivers so the child is not asked to change alone.
Child Therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples
Couples often come to therapy caught in cycles of conflict that affect not only emotional connection, but sex, money, parenting, trust, repair, and everyday life.
EFT and psychodynamic therapy share a common belief: what happens on the surface often makes more sense when we take the time to understand the deeper emotional and relational story underneath.
In the course of therapy, a couple gains the skills to communicate the deeper layers of their experience in a constructive way that helps them as they heal old wounds and build a secure bond.
Family Therapy
Families often come to therapy when old ways of getting work no longer work to meet the next challenge in their evolution.
We are especially interested in working with families navigating:
Conflict during adolescence or young adulthood
Estrangement, withdrawal, or emotional distance
Family responses to trauma, medical illness, and other major transitions.
Young adults and families making sense of psychotic or unusual experiences
